WHAT TO SEE

Garjia temple

This temple is dedicated to the local deity Garjia Devi, which stands on the top of a hill in the middle of the Kosi river. The temple is a small shrine with greenery and water all around it. It comes alive during Kartik Purnima as this is when locals from nearby towns come here to celebrate the occasion. This spot is actually on the way to Ranikhet. According to legend, it is believed that Garjia Devi is the one who guards the region and protects Her followers. Locals say that the Goddess is so powerful that even when there are torrential rains the temple and the area surrounding it have never been badly affected.

Corbett Falls

The Corbett Falls are truly a sight to behold! The water cascades into small pools and the entire area is surrounded with lush greenery. There are also some woods nearby and these are popular with hikers. The area here is so quiet, except for the gush of water, that it has a very calming effect on visitors. There are also some birds that frequent this area and it is no surprise that this spot is popular with bird watchers too.

NOTE TO VISITORS

The Corbett National Park doesn’t have any telecommunication facilities. The only way to communicate with the outside world is by using the wireless equipment belonging to the authorities at the park.
